SUMMARY:July School Holiday Sailing Course
DESCRIPTION:This 3 day Sailing Course (8.30am – 3.30pm each day) is open to School Children aged between 7-15yrs. The aim is to give kids an introduction to sailing on our River in a fun and safe environment. \n\n\n\nNumbers will be limited so book in early! \n\n\n\nCost: $60 for 3 days. \n\n\n\nChildren must be able to swim 25 metres\, (although we hope not to get too wet) and have lunch to eat each day during lunch break. \n\n\n\nRescue boats\, sailing boats and lifejackets will be provided. \n\n\n\nChildren should wear swimmers\, shorts\, warm thermal T shirt (or similar woolen jumper)\, shoes to get wet and spray jacket. Wet suit etc optional. Have warm dry clothes to change into. \n\n\n\nInstructors will be qualified Aust. SUMMARY:Big River Annual Regatta
DESCRIPTION:Big River’s Annual Regatta. \n\n\n\nA weekend of camping and sailing is always very popular. \n\n\n\nWe often head down Friday afternoon\, setup our camp and then have dinner at the Harwood Hotel.  Saturday lunch\, dinner\, Sunday breakfast and Sunday lunch are provided\, at a cost\, by the Big River Club. \n\n\n\nCamping is free. \n\n\n\nAmenities and drinking water are provided. \n\n\n\nGenerally\, there are 70 boats entered with a long race on Saturday and a series of short races on Sunday. SUMMARY:SheSails Introduction to Sailing - COURSE FULL
DESCRIPTION:2 Day Weekend Course starting Saturday 28 January 2023 from 10 am to 4 pm NSW time\, and same time again on Sunday 29th January 2023. \n\n\n\nThis course is open to all Females (15 years of age plus)\, as part of the SheSails program\, developing Women in Sailing.   \n\n\n\nThe club is running an Introduction to Sailing Course at Fingal Boat Harbour.  The course consists of 2 x 6 hour sessions over one weekend\, and based on NSW day light savings time\, 10 am to 4 pm each day. \n\n\n\nThe cost is $150 for the 2 sessions\, and non-refundable\, should you not attend both sessions.   This will include Tweed Valley Sailing club membership which is $100 (membership runs out on 30 September each year) and covers insurance when sailing.  Benefits of being a club member is that once you are a confident sailor you can hire the club dinghies (which you will be learning in). \n\n\n\nThe course is limited to 8 participants only and fills very quickly.   \n\n\n\nIf you would like to learn the basics of sailing\, and start your dinghy sailing journey\, you will enjoy this course.    \n\n\n\nOur introduction to sailing covers: \n\n\n\n\nPreparing to go on the water:  clothing to suit the conditions\, use of safety equipment and the need for protection from environmental elements.\n\n\n\nBe able to rig a boat with assistance and identify the commonly used parts of the boat.\n\n\n\nTie a figure of 8 knot and  a bowline.\n\n\n\nPerform a capsize recovery in shallow water and participate in single boat towing.\n\n\n\nBe able to launch and recover a boat with assistance; correctly tack and stop the boat; successfully sail a windward/broad reach course.\n\n\n\nUnderstand the meaning of port and starboard;  windward and leeward;  and the basic road rules on the water. \n\n\n\nIdentify the wind direction;  able to source weather forecasts. \n\n\n\n\nThere will be safety boats and assistants and a group of experienced sailor volunteers to assist you.  The dinghies we will use in this course are pacers and X3s. \n\n\n\nPre-requisites: \n\n\n\n. confidant swimmer (performing a capsizing is part of the course\, but you will be wearing a lifejacket). \n\n\n\n. agile and quite fit and strong (you will be constantly ducking under a boom and moving from one side of the dinghy to the other.  Lifting is involved too.) \n\n\n\nRegistration will be confirmed once full payment has been made.   \n\n\n\nPlease click on the link below or copy and paste in your browser: \n\n\n\nhttps://www.revolutionise.com.au/tweedvalleysc/events/170251/ \n\n\n\nIf you require further information\, please don’t hesitate to email or phone me\, details below.   \n\n\n\nKind regards \n\n\n\nMonique \n\n\n\nSheSails Rep \n\n\n\nTVSC \n\n\n\ne:  swell.lady16@gmail.com \n\n\n\nPh:  0409 761 908

DESCRIPTION:“She Sails” into 2023! First “SheSails” event of 2023! Come and practice your sailing skills. A safety boat will be on the water\, and a group of volunteers to assist.
